Summer Fun (and learning)

Summer school sucks, but learning in the summer doesn't have to. My niece LOVES to swim and create new things. So, to work on her language skills and sight words we created floating flashcards together.

Simply cut a white pool noodle into 3 cm thick slices. Use a permanent marker to write on sight words, numbers, or the alphabet. Let them dry completely then toss in the pool.

These floating flashcards can be used for a variety of games. She loves swimming to around to collect letters for the alphabet or play the simple game of what's missing? She dives under the water and I steal a letter. She needs to say the correct name and sound of the letter missing. Use your imagination to come up with new and exciting games to play.
